Killybegs, located on the south coast of County Donegal is the biggest fishing port in Ireland. As well as being home to a large fishing fleet, the town has a large fish processing industry which supplies the home market as well as exporting their produce worldwide.

The harbour is capable of accepting large ships as well as fishing trawlers and cruise ships and other tankers berth there regularly. As well as being an industrial centre the harbour is also a very scenic area which is very popular with visitors to the town.

Killybegs is on the Wild Atlantic Way and is a gateway town to the west of the county including areas such as Glencolmmcille and the stunning scenery of Sliabh Liag (Slieve League). 3 km from the town is Fintragh Blue Flag Beach.

Donegal Carpets which has produced some of the world’s most exclusive hand-knotted carpets is located in Killybegs. Donegal Carpets have sold at auction for $80,000-120,000, and today’s carpets are made on the same looms. Visitors can see examples at the International Carpet Making & Fishing Centre.

The town has many good hotels and other accommodation as well as pubs and restaurants, many specializing in delicious seafood dishes.
